Busy summer move for Rocks
Glasgow said goodbye to Kelvin Hall at the end of the season, and they’re still waiting for news on their new home at the Commonwealth Arena, which will host the Commonwealth Games in 2014. They’re hoping to move their basketball operation there shortly, alongside all the commercial and player activity which keeps club office staff busy at this time of year.
Plymouth wait on Williams
Jamaal Williams has stalled on signing a new deal at Plymouth, believing he is worth more than what he’s been offered by the club so far. Often quite an understated player, Williams will surely be looking to avoid a repeat of last year, where he didn’t manage to find a decent deal until half way through the season, having left Mersey Tigers.
Rundles leaves a lasting impression
There was a nice piece on the Leicester website about point guard Cameron Rundles, one of the key components of their best ever BBL season which culminated in play-off final defeat against the Newcastle Eagles. Having missed the calls of journalist Keith Firmin wanting to do an end of season piece, he rang back the following day offering his apologies. The piece read: “Rundles didn’t have to call me. I know what it’s like not being in your home country for months on end and how focused you are on going home and seeing family and friends, so I would have happily accepted a tweet update from him a few weeks later. Cam didn’t want to do that though and it’s exactly those kinds of things that set him apart from most others – he doesn’t just do what is asked of him and he doesn’t just do extra. He does everything.” I’m sure most BBL clubs will be on the look out for a player just like Rundles this season.
