Newcastle are close to the signing of Italian-American guard Jimmy Bartolotta, according to the local press.
Bartolotta, 25, is on the Eagles’ radar following a successful season in the Icelandic Super League, and is reported to have began negotiations with the club.
Club owner Paul Blake told The Journal: “We are in negotiations with a number of players and we’re looking at a few options.
“This particular player (Bartolotta) doesn’t need a visa so it would take a bit less time to sort out everything, which would have obvious benefits for us.”
The Eagles pre-season starts on September 3rd, ahead of their team launch in Sunderland on September 5th.
